SO YOU'VE BEEN KIDNAPPED.

If your character isn't getting abducted, please ignore this post!

A kidnapping log will be going up very soon for the characters who have been, uh, kidnapped. But before that, we need a liiitttle bit of info about each and every one of you special snowflakes.

All characters who have been kidnapped must fill out this form by the 12th. Otherwise we won't be able to thread you with the NPC important to this plot. The more detail the better, but only provide us information you're comfortable sharing.

I.E., don't give us information you don't want your character potentially psychologically tortured with (as such, deleting questions is fine). Likewise, if any of the information in the template below is redundant for your character, feel free to leave it out. We just need a general idea of objects, images, people, and situations that evoke strong positive and negative emotions in your character.

Noctis Lucis Caelum | Emily, let's do this

[personal profile] fessus 2018-02-07 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Emily
Character: Noctis Lucis Caelum ([personal profile] fessus)
Contact: Discord is easiest at pyrrhicbattles#0508!
Hard Nos: Bring it all on, honestly.

Kidnapping: Please drug him with darts, he's so tired.
Group: 3
HRHR Details: I was planning for the kidnapping to occur after the completion of the mission! If this doesn't work or isn't specific enough, you know where to shout at me.

Worst Fear: Beyond just the deaths of the last remaining people close to him (largely meaning the Chocobros and close COST cr ((Hei, Ryuji, Midnighter, Achilles)))? Failing to reclaim his throne after those deaths, rendering all of their sacrifices totally pointless and dooming his people to subjugation by a foreign power.
Happy Place: Canonically this is the Regalia, his father's car. This is because he associates it with his father's protection and the memories of his homeland. It's his "safe place".
Least Favorite Person: Ardyn Izunia. He knows that Ardyn is associated with Niflheim and thus likely was involved in the attack on Insomnia (that also killed his father) and he knows that Ardyn killed Luna, his fiancee. Also he makes Noctis highly uncomfortable even before he's aware of any of this.
Most Favorite Person: Any of his three teammates: Prompto, Gladio, or Ignis. They're his brothers that have been there for him through everything and he trusts them one hundred percent. Regis, his father, and Luna, his fiancee, are also extremely high on this list but he didn't have as open a relationship with either or arguably as great an understanding. (I suffered answering this, like a lot.)
Worst Memory: Learning his father had been murdered, his city had been partially destroyed and conquered, and his way of life was basically over in one fell swoop.
Best Memory: There are a couple options here. I'd say his most cherished memory for how often it comes up and how it sticks with him was befriending Luna as a child.

Others: meeting Ignis as a child, being accepted by Gladio after being repeatedly criticized by him, Prompto finally no longer avoiding him and becoming his friend in high school, catching the Big One, or Regis being at his bedside and caring for him after his childhood injury. It's also a theme in the game that Noctis is at his happiest when he's just spending downtown with his friends. Camping out together or taking stupid pictures -- these are all super precious to him. He loves the normalcy.

Hard Nos: haha

Kidnapping: Drugged by sleeping mist. Her armour would normally protect her against that sort of thing, but she doesn't have it for this mission. Whoops!
Group: Group 1.
HRHR Details: All here.

Worst Fear: Debasement, being disregarded, failing to obtain the throne. Also seeing her father suffer and break under the weight of kingship, but Mordred isn't aware of that herself.
Happy Place: When she was in genuine service to the king as a knight, following the tenets of chivalry. She describes those few years as "brilliant and joyful", the only thing in her past she reflects kindly on.
Least Favorite Person: King Arthur. She hates him for rejecting her as his heir; and, more importantly, as his son. (Yes, look at me. Hate me. Let the mere mention of Mordred forever grate your ears and twist your face with anger. Curse my very name.)
Most Favorite Person: King Arthur. Even in death, she views her father as perfect: an infallible king, a flawless existence. It's played to a comical extent in side canon, where she buys merchandise of Arturia and is generally desperate for her attention. jesus christ I'm sorry about all of this.
Worst Memory: Being penetrated by King Arthur Her father rejecting her, both in life and death. ("I see... born from the machinations of my sister you may be, but indeed you are of my blood. Yet I shall not recognize you as my son, nor shall I allow you the throne.")
Best Memory: Finding out the truth of her birth from Morgan, that she was not only the child of the king's sister, but the child and clone of the king himself. Right up until she actually confronted the king about said heritage.

tl;dr daddy issues. Here's a nice concise reference for all of that, if you want to use her own dream against her.

Player: Tori
Character: Daenerys Targaryen ([personal profile] dorzalta)
Contact: [plurk.com profile] bubblytangerine or on Disco! (Probably easier on Disco tbh)
Hard Nos: Can't think of anything atm.

Kidnapping: I CAN'T CHOOSE. Either darts or teleportation!
Group: Group 4.
HRHR Details: After the solicitation of surrender from the Regency, probably? (I imagine she would be trying to convince those she's helping to defend to not surrender, and she might even try to stop someone from running off... assuming they tried? Could be the point where she gets nabbed.)

Worst Fear: Losing her dragons, losing her baby, losing/failing her people, failing to redeem the Targaryen line, never being able to have a family/children.
Happy Place: the house with the red door in Braavos from her childhood (bonus: lemon tree outside). It was the only place she really felt safe growing up, prior to Ser Willem Darry's death.
Least Favorite Person: She has a few. If we tap into fears, the Night King (even though she's only seen him in a dream), or the faceless assassins Robert Baratheon "sent after her" as a girl. I don't think she fears Viserys now, but there was definitely an element of fear at some point when she was younger, I would argue. Can't think of anyone she actively hates with a burning passion.
Most Favorite Person: Jon Snow. He's one of the few people who is her equal and who she can be herself with.
Worst Memory: Any of these would work: 1) being told Viserion dies (he's her child, but she hasn't witnessed this yet, so the image isn't as terrible); 2) being raped by Drogo (even if she eventually fell in love with him, it was still a difficult time with a man she had no feelings for and was sold to).
Best Memory: Birth of her dragons!

PS! Would Irriella be kidnapped with Dany? And if so, would there be a way for her to somehow help Dany without being injured or taken by the Regency?

Does Noctis have any phobias or irrational fears? He hates bugs and snakes! When it comes to strong fears, though, he's also particularly unnerved by the Ring of the Lucii and the idea of putting it on. (He knows what it can do to people and the toll it took on his father, though, so this one isn't really irrational.)

What fills Noctis with a sense of dread? Fully ascending to the throne. His coronation, suddenly having all that work and responsibility thrust upon him, having to wear the ring and deal with that aspect, and being judged by the people of Lucis.

What is something he would do anything to save / have / keep / preserve? His friends. For a material answer, however, the book which contains his last messages to and from Luna.

What embarrasses Noctis the most? So many things. He's pretty reserved and modest, though, so he's embarrassed by general commentary on his body. Another big one is just losing at anything, whether it's darts or a sparring match. It doesn't matter; he gets really flustered and defensive. Also being called out on the fact that he's pretty naïve and/or unintelligent.

What does debasement mean to Mordred? Physically, emotionally? What evokes those feelings?
To be seen as less than human because of her unnatural origins (she's a homunculus; she was born like a human, but not created like one). Being seen as a second rate knight, or lesser than her father. Being told she's unworthy in any way, shape, or form.

What does Mordred fear losing the most?
On the surface: her chance to pull the sword from the stone like her father did.
Deep down: her chance to finally understand her father as a person.

What is something Mordred seeks to protect?
Her kingdom (future, hypothetical kingdom, but she speaks/thinks of it as a given), and Britain as a whole. She talks about hating humanity in one breath, and then wanting to be a strong enough king to protect everyone in the next. The former is mostly posturing; the latter is closer to her true feelings.

What does Mordred consider chivalrous? Does she approve of chivalry?
The most basic storybook kind of chivalry: protecting the weak, helping others, etc. She mostly abandoned this during her rebellion (destroying a country over daddy issues isn't exactly chivalrous), and speaks derisively of such things... but, more often than not, she'll be found leaning on the side of chivalry anyway. So she definitely approves, it's just cased in rudeness.

Her father was the Mad King and her brother was the Beggar King. Both did not leave good and lasting impressions with those who interacted with them. Her father's madness + the rebellion = decimation of her House, and she knows how terrible a man he is. She would want to make amends for this, as we've seen with her apologizing to Jon for what her father did. More than that, she wants to correct the wrongs that the Great Houses have caused to all the people, so by liberating Westeros from Cersei's rule and bringing peace to the realm, this is how she would redeem her line.

As for the Mountain, this is more speculation on mine and Elizabeth's parts. Dany's canon point is prior to going to the Dragonpit, so she wouldn't have seen him in person; however, in the books, she's aware of what happened to Rhaenys and Aegon, which would only have been told by Viserys. She speaks of how if Aegon had survived, she'd have likely been his wife. I don't think she would have any kindness in her heart for Gregor, knowing he killed children. Her family.

EDIT: but also on that note, she doesn't outright mention the Mountain in this bit of dialogue from the books-- "The child kicked inside her, as if he had heard. Dany remembered the story Viserys had told her, of what the Usurper’s dogs had done to Rhaegar’s children. His son had been a babe as well, yet they had ripped him from his mother’s breast and dashed his head against a wall. That was the way of men." And she also has no reaction to him at the Dragonpit later in the show.

Her dragons are her freedom. Becoming the Unburnt is her rebirth from outsider to a true contender for the Iron Throne, and allows her to step away from the shackles of her old life (e.g., being chained to both Viserys and Drogo; even if she loved Drogo, that marriage wasn't of her choosing, ultimately).

a) Would Irriella be able to consume those rations?
b) What sort of cells will they be kept in?
c) Would she be able to interact with the others from COST who were also kidnapped?
d) Could Irriella crawl through the bars and find food or explore the space they're being held in?

That's super helpful to know, thanks!! :>

I saw that deleted comment from before (sneaky sneaky). With regards to what she accomplishes in group 4, I have no preference. I'm sure that there will be plenty of things going on to sneak her off. If you want me to get more specific, I'll wiggle something and edit my initial comment below.

Player: Alex
Character: Ashitaka ([personal profile] lonelywar)
Contact: sharisper#7460 on Discord.
Hard Nos: On the excessively off-chance it would come up somehow, but I can't do eye trauma. Otherwise nah.

Kidnapping: I kind of just want him to flub a perception roll super hard and just not notice a Regency agent sneak up on him in perhaps a very crucial moment of the infiltration, conk him on the head, and then haul him away.
Group: Group 3
HRHR Details: My immediate impulse is to have him kidnapped in the middle of the most crucial part of the mission, however that ends up shaking out in the planning phase. He would most likely be alone and trying to accomplish whatever task was up to him.

Worst Fear: Even more than Ashitaka fears succumbing to his curse is his fear of succumbing to it without having made any sort of impact or change in the direction he sees the world going into. Outside of the insulation of his village, he found that the world is angry, covetous, and cruel, and that it seemed content to continue along such a dreadful course. Ashitaka does not fear death; he has said as much, that he had accepted his fate the moment he attacked the demon. He fears failure of the important mission he feels has been placed upon him, and he fears permitting the rise of a world that would cause more victims like himself and all of the others he has seen hurt and killed along the way. The fact that the Emishi are destined to die out without him also weighs heavily on him. Truthfully, he views both of these fears as having already been confirmed (having seen the future).
Happy Place: Traveling through the forest with Yakul, surrounded by the peace of nature, the kodama leading him toward where he feels he needs to go. By this point, living among other people is more of a duty to him than something that feels natural, as in leaving his village he severed himself from ever truly belonging in human society again.
Least Favorite Person: This is actually somewhat challenging to answer for Ashitaka, because he actively tries to view people without a haze of anger, as he was told to do before he left on his journey. Though one might think he would feel this way about the entity that cursed him, he actually would hold the most enmity towards Lady Eboshi, because it was her actions and ambitions that caused the ripple effect that led to that selfsame curse. This feeling of antagonism, however, isn't so black and white as him simply hating her or fearing her. In a way, he respects her. Knowing of her reasons for doing what she does, she is humanized in his eyes, even if he knows they must be enemies because of what she insists upon doing.
Most Favorite Person: Though it's probably not well-advised, this is San. He doesn't allow himself to continue to hold any attachments to any of the Emishi, as he has forsworn them in leaving the village forever. He also holds the people of Irontown at arm's length, despite having spent some time with them, because he knows that their motivations and goals will inevitably clash. Though he knows comparatively little about her, and though she's threatened (or tried) to kill him a handful of times, he feels an instinctive and powerful connection to her, feeling that they are kindred spirits lost between the affairs of gods and men. He has saved her life (against her own will), and she has saved his (though she did try to kill him shortly beforehand), and after this he feels as though their fates are interconnected.
Worst Memory: Most likely when the wise woman told him the truth of his fate and that, in order to pursue a solution to his curse, he must cut his hair and leave the village, never to return. Other highlights were getting cursed in the first place and also that one time he got shot through the chest.
Best Memory: Probably... something really sappy. Uhh. He was bleeding out at the time and very nearly dead, but what little he remembers of San's efforts to save his life after he took her away from Irontown (and after he got shot). The very small amount of time they had together at the den of the wolf clan (sans Moro telling him she'd probably kill him if she ever saw him again, of course...). He doesn't really allow himself to cling to memories of his life among the Emishi, and not a lot of good things have happened to him since he left them...

Hard Nos: Let the paste die. Kill it if you have to. (no nos for me)

Kidnapping: Drugged by sleeping mist, as this will reduce the incidence of him flailing unnecessarily :I
Group: 1
HRHR Details: GESTURES VAGUELY so the basic timeline right now is that Ren will be doing his job with Group 1, and at some point he and Hux will find an opportunity to make contact with a Regency agent and get those scarabs. Any point after that is prime kidnappin’ time.

Worst Fear: Failure, especially in terms of falling short of what he perceives as his grand destiny. He grew up knowing he was the son of war heroes and the nephew of a Jedi Master, and was born with more power than any of them knew how to really handle. Snoke promised him untold power, and Kylo longs to be as powerful as his grandfather, Darth Vader, and surpass him by completing his legacy: kill all the Jedi. He did great at that up until, you know, Luke Skywalker.
Happy Place: Kylo likes to be in control of situations, either through power or fear. He’s most comfortable then, but the closest he gets to a ‘happy place’ is that feeling of freedom after he’s killed some part of his past. For example, when he leaves Luke’s school and his family to join Snoke, thinking he’s finally off to fulfill his destiny and leave the lies behind. He really doesn’t have a physical happy place, and if he did, they’re all bad memories now anyways.
Least Favorite Person: He’ll make noise about not fearing anyone, but it’s a toss up between Leia and Rey. Leia, because even though he’d just killed Han, Kylo couldn’t pull the trigger on her when he had the chance. Something stopped him, and he’s not as eager to face as her he might’ve been before. Rey, because she rejected him, again, and is the only other person in the galaxy with powers to match his. Not just match, but he’s been beaten by her twice and lost his grandfather’s lightsaber to her, twice. That really fries his fanny.
Most Favorite Person: Kylo doesn’t love or trust anyone, but he idolizes his grandfather, Darth Vader. He was one of the most powerful and feared men in the galaxy, and Kylo aspires to that after being failed by his Jedi uncle. Vader destroyed the Jedi, and Kylo wants to continue that. As for a living person, it’s kind of a stretch because he doesn’t really TRUST Hux, but they’ve worked together at the top of the First Order for at least five years. So that’s... something?
Worst Memory: Waking up in the middle of the night to see his uncle standing over him with his lightsaber, having apparently judged he’s got too much Dark in him, and therefore needs to die. Kylo would like to argue it’s a good memory in that it was the catalyst that set him on his true path, but that’s a lie. To him it was proof that his family had finally abandoned and given up on him entirely, and that he wasn’t worth saving.

And he doesn’t quite realize it yet, but killing his father is a hard second for his worst memory. It didn’t free him from anything, or make him more powerful. Like everything he thinks is a good idea, it just messed him up more.
Best Memory: Since he’s a contrary bag of contradictions, his best memories pair with his worst memories. Waking up to Luke poised to kill him was awful, but immediately after that he took some of the other students with him to go to Snoke, his new master. That would have been a defining moment for him: a group of his own followers, a new master, heading towards his true destiny to greatness, just like granddad.

ALSO: Kylo will have that scarab by the time he’s kidnapped. He’s also not going to realize he was actually kidnapped, because he and Hux had successfully (“successfully”) made some sort of contact with the Regency.

Hard Nos: Nothing happening to teeth pls, that is my biggest number one squick

Kidnapping: attacked and incapacitated.
Group: 2
HRHR Details: She'll get the job done before she gets snatched, thankfully.

Worst Fear: Rey fears being alone and being left behind more than anything else. Now that's she's admitted the truth of her parents never coming back for her that wound is still very fresh, so having to face abandonment and solitude again would just kill her.
Happy Place: Now that the Falcon is hers I have to say that's where she's happiest. It's the place she's going to be able to start building a new home from.
Least Favorite Person: KYLO REN. He's a murderer and a torturer and a monster and she hates him for not coming back to the light like she thought he would. Stupid jerk.

A close runner up is Unkar Plutt. Her parents sold her to him for drinking money and he proceeded to make her life a living hell from the time she was like five. Like he didn't even feed her she had to do that herself, what a douche.
Most Favorite Person: Finn. He's the first person in her life to ever go back for her, the first HUMAN she ever felt was her friend and wouldn't ever try to use her or hurt her.
Worst Memory: Han Solo being murdered right in front of her

Wracked my brain on this one, but my gut instinct is that he doesn't really have any smaller, random phobias. I feel like, due to Ashitaka's very straightforward nature, his fears are, by definition, rational due to his situation (being powerless, failing in his quest, etc.). I just feel like any other comment I make on it wouldn't have enough canonical basis for me to feel confident about it!

Currently, the Emishi are, to him, a wound that has not yet begun to heal. They are a family he can no longer claim as his own, a people that he grew up knowing that he was the sole hope for, whom he was forced to abandon due to his own rash actions. He feels a great guilt for what has happened, even though his own nature makes him unlikely to regret his actions. I would say yes, he does miss them, though thinking on them is more pain and accompanying guilt than comfort. It is in the nature of his departure that he would never return, but if for some reason that changed (and that change was known between him and the Emishi)... he might. But he would most likely not do so without San. (The potential for returning, however, would be very outlandish, almost an impossible outcome to him. In cutting his hair and leaving the village, Miyazaki said in interview that he, in a way, "ceased to be human," and I read this as he ceases to see himself as a person who can ever belong to any human society. He can no longer be a prince to the Emishi, just as he can be no citizen of Irontown by the end of the film. He will always be "outside," in a way, even if it's a mental exile.)

Yes, though... it's a little complicated. He fears the deaths of innocents. He fears deaths that might have been needless or without cause (which, to him, is most deaths in war, as he feels war is something that is and should be avoidable). In this same vein, he still struggles with the deaths he himself has caused by his own hand, though this is only when attacked first. He is a little odd as most people, when presented with the choice of the death of many strangers or the death of one loved one, he might actually give pause due to his strong empathy and moral code. I think in many circumstances he might choose the many strangers, though exceptions would be San and any others that he grows close to and believes to think of as family. (Making this selfish decision would, however, would wreck him with guilt.)

Failure, to Ashitaka, is two-pronged. One is that, either due to his action or inaction, something has become ruined or worse off than it was. The second is that it is irreparable, regardless of what he says or does. He is very much a big-picture person, and he is also very stubborn and tenacious, so he will continue to fight for what might even seem to be a hopeless cause until he can't any longer. If these two things above, however, were ever hammered into him enough, it would be truly crushing to him.

(hopefully these answers aren't too convoluted mods... these were really hard questions LOL)

At the core, Kylo Ren is a source of confusion to Rey. She really does hate him for the things he's done and been party to, especially for murdering Han Solo and hurting Finn badly enough he'd put him in a coma. She hates him all the way down to her very bones, but that doesn't stop her from trying to redeem him.

What she wants to see him doing: not killing everyone, coming back to the light, atoning for the things he's done, and reuniting with his mother. What she fears is pretty much the exact opposite of that.

What Rey likes best about Han: he was gruff, like her, but there was a warmness to him that she hadn't ever felt before. She had started to think of him, maybe subconsciously, as a father figure. The offer to join his crew was something that had filled her with so much happiness and joy that it transformed her from this cold, mean person to someone who was just happy to be included.

She loved him despite how little time they spent together and she feels the loss of him like an empty, gaping wound. She remembers him being protective, willing to come back for her like her own parents never did.

Before meeting Luke, Rey was kind of in denial about what was happening to her with the Force. She avoided all his insistently asking what she was until she couldn't anymore, and once she'd had him agreeing to help train her she was starting to accept it a little more. Now she's okay with the idea of having the force, but she's kind of at a loss for what it means to be a Jedi. With him dead all she has to go on is those books, so she's sort of just stuck having to figure it out on her own.

She doesn't really have that much faith in her ability to be a proper Jedi or pass on their teachings, but she's going to do her best to at least learn from them and not let the basic ideas of the Force die.

She likes porgs fine???? Like she let them stay in the Falcon despite the fact that they were making nests in it so she must think they're okay... she probably thinks they're pretty cute.

Does Kylo Ren fear losing control of his abilities? Yes, he's already frosty about being less powerful here. Less powerful is different than losing control, though, so: he knows he's strong, but even when he lashes out in rage it's still him doing it. So loss of control would be frightening.

Does he want to defeat Leia and / or Rey? What would victory against them look / feel like to him? What about defeat? Defeating Leia would be mean defeating the Resistance, as well as his own perceived demons over how his living family members hold him back. So yes, he still wants to defeat Leia because it will be good not only for the First Order, but himself as well. It would be a relief (so he thinks). As for Rey, given the chance he'd likely try to turn her to his side again. If her pattern of refusals continues, though, he'll destroy her, too. It will be another blow to the Resistance, but it would feel less awesome to him. Even if Snoke revealed he connected their minds and fed them that vision, he still thinks they can rule together. Defeating or killing her would rob him of the only other person with his caliber of power, and that would be a loss. A hollow victory, which is pretty much what he’s used to right now, heeeey-o.

If he’s defeated by them, he’ll see it as either death or torture. If he doesn’t die in whatever battle leads to his defeat, he’d assume both would want to keep him alive to redeem/save him. Which he’d perceive as torture -- he made his choice, and doesn’t take kindly to attempts at convincing him otherwise.

How does Kylo view Vader as a person? His actions and intentions, personality, etc? Obviously Kylo never met him in person, and his family never told him he was related to Darth Vader until it was revealed in a Senate scandal about Leia. So his knowledge of Vader is mostly historical record, and whatever Luke might have finally decided to tell him once he found out. He’s clearly enamoured with how Vader, and even Anakin Skywalker to some extent, acted in power. He wears a mask to hide his identity and distort his voice, threatens officers that upset or offend him, thinks it’d be cool to command a clone army, and wants to destroy the Jedi and rule the galaxy with a powerful and efficient Empire. As for Vader as a person, Kylo has less to go on other than he was scary, ruthless and very good at what he did. His view of Vader is definitely lacking the full picture, but he’s fixated on the parts he likes and wants to model himself after.
