I will note that Jon would wait to open his until he's noticed that a few people have opened theirs, or until he's talked it over with Dany (exactly because of her history with hatching eggs), or both, or etc. He wouldn't be the first to crack one.

The egg bursts open in a cloud of black dust and inside Hei will find an opal about 2 inches (5 cm) long. It looks like a normal rock at first, but the colors will become more vivid the closer he is to water (with maximum vividness happening within a two meter aka 6.5 ft radius). When dropped into water, it will gently glow and begin to cleanse it. It can only drawn in impurities until it's full (so he can't do something like purify an entire lake), when it will turn a milky color. So he can purify say a particularly filthy cup of water (or, uh, a cup of tea SURPRISE it's normal water now) and then has to wait an hour; the stone needs to purge the impurities before it's ready for use again.

After incubating the egg for a week, Rey will discover that the egg has become unnaturally cold to the touch. In fact, it sits at a cool 32°F or 0°C (approximate). Touching it will cause the egg to fracture and crack and sand-colored dust to burst out before the egg petrifies (so kind of like this, just with the egg's patterns still intact and much lighter since it's only the shell). It will also, obviously, make Rey's hand very cold. The egg essentially sucks in all the heat around it, so now Rey always has a hand-sized ice pack on hand.

The egg bursts open in a cloud of green dust and inside Noctis will find a chunk of jade about 2 inches (5 cm) long. It looks like a normal rock at first, but if near blood or any kind of open wound (say a two meter aka 6.5 ft radius), it will gently glow a soft green that matches the color of the rock. If placed on the injury (or like...close to it, because ow), it will ease the pain, but only incrementally. So like say based on this pain scale, it would take a 5 down to a 4, but no more.

It looks like a normal rock at first, but changes color based on the mood of whoever touches it (you can make up what these colors are and how they correspond to different moods). If tightly held in the palm of someone anxious or angry or otherwise emotionally stressed, it will offer some gentle calm but only incrementally. So like say based on this chart, it would take a 5 down to a 4, but no more.

It looks like a normal rock at first, but if placed anywhere dark (or even shady), it will begin to glow the color of the rock. The glow grows stronger the darker it is and will comfortably light a two meter (6.5 ft) radius, without the rock ever being too bright to look at. Great for late night reading in the middle of nowhere, or just seeing where the hell you're going. On the flipside, yeah, you need to cover it if you want a good night's sleep in the dark.

BASE doesn't have much to offer as far as permanent solutions go, but she could find some wire or string as a temporary solution! Trying to break the rock into smaller pieces will render its effects null, however.
