PLAYER PLOT: SPIDERPARTY!

Rather than create a million different entries, I'm just continuously repurposing and editing this one. Crossposted to the Discord server.

Cheris gathered a bunch of COST's personnel to "subtly" brag and discuss their military exploits, tell stories of their might and prowess, discuss their creations, associated acts, etc. in front of the entertainer-spies that the Great Houses sent to COST's living quarters. It results in all of the remaining Great Houses ( Shaiy, Jankeh and Khah ) sending party invitations to basically everyone. And by "everyone" I mean: "anyone who wants to get involved" as there is no cut-off, and don't worry: you didn't miss out.

Here's the Q&A thread in its entirety.

Should your character want to Haute Couture Brag, get themselves an invitation ( or be someone else's +1 ), you're welcome to use this post to plot, mingle and discuss plans. The parties are a competition for attention and glory among the Great Houses, but if your character wants to Get Shit Done, they're welcome to.

If you haven't already, or if you're just joining in, please make sure you tally up which house you're going to, and what your character's hierarchical rank is! This goes for even the +1s!

Most importantly, out of that long tl;dr comment chain displaying how poor an organizer I actually am, here's the actual information on the parties. There will be a small log thrown up for everyone to thread around in, but go ahead and treat this like a catch-all plotting post.

I would say attend as one cohesive unit if we have a lot of magical people attending, OR if there's one house in particular we really want to focus our efforts on.

Otherwise, probably best to split up and avoid insulting the other houses.

I'm not sure which party they'd want to attend, but Jon and Dany would go and would take Chiron and Jeyne, if either or both of them was interested.

IDK what Dany will brag about -- she has a lot to choose from and that's up to her player -- but Jon can brag about the time he and his sister brought down a rival house and fed its leader to... well, spoilers and content warnings, but it was super satisfying and not at all pretty. Jon was made king as a direct result of these events. (Edited to add a note that he's not usually a braggart at all, but could probably front as one for a few hours, esp since this whole mission has insulted his pride a little.)

This is so cool! Dolores would be really interested in seeing people bragging for a cause and would likely pick up some of the spirit of the vibe and be able to offer support. It's a different type of game, but she's in.

She's available if anyone needs to puff themselves up with a +1 or otherwise have someone back up their story.

You know I'm super interested in this, and I think Percy would probably be best utilized with the Jankeh if I had to pick a house party to be sent off to mingle with.

You know Percy's got a bunch of shit he's either been working on/has worked on in the past including previous weapons etc so it's likely he'll be game for casually discussing his designs... and possibly also concocting some drafts for the express purpose of this plan. You know he's got something rattling around in his head.

Arthur's not big on bragging but he probably has some exploits he could talk about in front of Very Particular spies. IDK does incepting the owner of a major corporation to dissolve their company count...

If not, he's great arm candy. And being a normal/natural, it'll be easy for him to move around if we want more information on a house.

John would be totally down for this! Everything coming out of his mouth would be total bullshit with a hint of truth behind it. He knows he's a magical that smells like lunch to the spiders so he'd likely lean into that and tell stories about how he fireball vaporized 10 assailants at once, all three times his size. This lunch bites back so to speak.

He would also be very good at rolling with someone else's story, making up details as a witness or someone who would have been fighting alongside them. Cons are his specialty. John's got this, and he'd gravitate toward anyone else who was clearly having fun with it too.

As for house he really wouldn't care, he's not taking the spiders as seriously as he should. He's more in this because the stories are fun and he needs to get the mission under his belt. The one house I would rather him not go to is Shaiy because his appearance is a disaster just like his life and it would be a real struggle to bs that.

Siegfried has a Very Big Repetoire in the Nibelungenlied legend (killed an unkillable dragon, wiped out entire armies by himself, gained immortality, claimed a holy sword, etc etc), so if someone spoke with him about vocalizing his exploits he could do it. Granted he'll be a little on edge doing so- he doesn't want to fully give away who he is, and he's got esteem issues out the ass, but if it's for a mission, he can do his best to fake it.

Also, he's gonna need someone to tag along with him, he's completely magical and therefore will be considered food otherwise.

As far as houses go, Siegfried could do any of them? Khah might take the greatest interest in him though, seeing as he'd speak mostly of leading armies and being able to take on many at once- and possibly also hint at destroying them himself. It really depends on what he thinks he'll need to "brag" about, essentially.

No particular house, but Hux would expound on what the First Order did easily, and his own proficiency with technology/'technological terror' to rise in ranks. Since...a lot of what the FO did would not sit well with those spiders, he would think.

minatsuki can definitely brag but she's also a little nervous to talk abt her Murder Days in front of her fellow COST recruits rn, soooo she would also defs tag along as a +1 for like, "ohoho look at me, top of the food chain AND our military dogs are my bitches" reasons plus keeping an eye on these idiots to make sure they pull off the act convincingly, and she'd save the bragging for if it was REALLY needed at the party itself

she doesn't really care which party she goes to, but defs thinks they should split up because that way they won't make enemies of the other houses & it'll look more like they're weighing up their options and need a little ~extra incentive~ to pick a side ;) ;)

HIS ACTUAL ATTENDANCE IS UP IN THE AIR but William would push for picking a single house, arguing that the spiders will see it as weak and indecisive if COST chooses to court everyone. (Plus, it might inspire the shunned houses to fight harder for their favor.)(Or it could blow up in their faces but you know...)

He'd also want a small-ish group of qualified people to go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ dreaming big.

He'd defs be open to discussion re: which house--since losing Chchai was a blow to the queen, he might recommend Khah, as they're militaristic and would probs help the queen consolidate power (lmao if COST thinks they can get them...to let go of their HUGE GRUDGE). He'd also be in favor of Jankeh, since ingratiating yourself with someone in control of trade is never a bad idea.

ETA: He honestly wouldn't be opposed to Shaiy either, since it would. Appeal to his sense of drama. I hate him.

cheris is most interested in house khah (she's the Boring Military Type, too) and house jankeh (they seem lusty for good tech??), so she'll be partial to attending either of their parties, and will defer to the majority of their reasoning is sound. she's a female in aranean society, but she's also a hybrid - which is why she goes to most public functions with travis touchself touchdown in tow lmfa

she's going to talk about her own military exploits as a general, including breaking an "unbreakable fortress" over her knee!!

As I was saying, I would be very interested in participating in these exploits. Ryo would have likely gotten an invitation at some point due to his being a probable meme (re: his genetics making a mess of the hierarchy much to his displeasure and deep, dark confusion), but he's definitely suited as a +1 due to his usually being perceived as lower in the ranks than most everyone (but, also, occasionally artificial and occasionally magical). He's an easy conversation piece, in other words, which might gather the interest of some spiders that might otherwise pass someone over.

He'll hate it, thanks, but he'll do it given his motivations overall here.

Like I was sayin' on Disco: Ryo can be your plus one, Percy. He won't be in the initial brag festival, but he'll help you come up with some dope gun designs he guesses. Stuff you do to protect stuff you care about. Thanks, he hates it.

Also, being an aforementioned spider hierarchy meme, it'll be pretty beneficial. He's his own entertainment... piece... weeps.

Since the spiders value rebellion, Mordred would be more than happy to brag about her own one: that she betrayed and overthrew a king and destroyed his kingdom. The Regency/some of COST knows who she really is, so even if her identity comes out as a result of said bragging, it won't be a huge blow; the fact she's one of the biggest traitors in legend would probably work in her favour here, especially because said king was her own father.

She's a hybrid, but since she was born/created artificial first, that probably outweighs the magical side of things a little, so she could either take or be a +1. I'm open to suggestions! House-wise, she'd lean towards Khah because military, but she knows how important trade and diplomacy can be, so she wouldn't be too hard to sway to the majority vote.

Bucky can’t get rid of the soldier in him even if he wants to. He’s more or less born for this kinda thing, and with the infiltration skills he learned for his role as the Winter Soldier, he’s more or less primed for this sort of espionage.

Since he's an artificial, he’ll already be playing a part much different from his usual self with COST where he tends to be more casual, passive, and easygoing. Instead, he’ll be much harsher, more violent, and critical of others to express his dominance, so in a way, he’s already doing what is needed for this, haha.

I’m not sure on what house parties specifically, but i’ll...think about it some more and get back to you. If I can’t pick on my own though, Bucky is okay to go to any of them, so long as a placement needs filling.

Thor would be down for this! He's great at bragging, it's his favorite pastime.

He'd be in favor of choosing a single house (maybe Khah?) so that COST doesn't appear divided after losing their allies; to that end he'll try to be a team player and go along with the majority in terms of which house they go to.

Genji would be in! He doesn't mind bragging about his sweet ninja moves. As for which House, he would be fine to go with the group or be "assigned" to one, if they wanted to split their efforts between Houses.

He'd mainly be bragging about his stealth skills, about how he was able to sneak into x place and take out x amount of people, that kind of thing.

Also that time that he had to fight his way out of Venice because his commander did a dumb and they fought a whole army of Talon operatives, yikes.

Stuff about having the ~spirit of the dragon~ in him too, maybe?
