HRHR: Prepare for Trouble.

TO PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVASTATION;
TO UNITE ALL PEOPLES WITHIN OUR NATION

THE MISSIVE.

Precise as always, Grothia delivers a text address to all COST recruits, detailing a series of missions. With the upcoming holiday, she and Young know as well as the Regency that it's a perfect time for sabotage. After so much gross indulgence, the Araneans calm. It's a reprieve; one could almost think to call the Araneans docile, if docile meant you run the risk of being sleepily devoured by a satisfied spider. It's the freest recruits will be from their scrutiny, though there is still no shortage of prying eyes.

But there's no rest for the wicked.

COST is in a race with the Regency, to see who can outwit who first. Both sides are here to protect their interests and ensure the victory of who they would see sit the throne.

HOW IT WORKS.

Once again, this is going to be a little different from our previous HRHRs.

As seen in previous HRHRs, you guys get to choose from the objectives listed below; how your characters complete them is totally up to you. However, rather than asking you to turn in full plans, we're going to request skill levels for your characters as they pertain to that specific mission. You have until June 14th to sign up; we'll pair you up and tell you the difficulty of your HRHR the following day. If it's amenable to you, we'll roll for success. Please note that more than one pair of characters can tackle a HRHR; you'll just work on different objectives.

Skill levels are out of 30, with 1 as the worst possible score (bordering on nonfunctional), 15 as average for a non-powered human with training, and 30 as superhuman godlike abilities. For reference, a 20 would be peak performance from a non-powered human in an area where they're extremely knowledgeable and experienced, while powered humans will likely peak around 25, unless their powers or skills are seriously broken.

Threads are due August 5th EDIT: July 5th I SWEAR I KNOW JULY COMES AFTER JUNE. Failure to turn in a thread will result in an automatic failure of that mission, regardless of what the mods rolled for you. They don't need to be complete by any means, but they should show the characters working on their HRHR in some capacity.

Please pick at least two HRHR options and note if you prefer one over the other. Ideally, we'll have at least two characters signed up for each mission, but it's not the end of the world if we have fewer; HRHRs are optional and no one will get in trouble for not participating. That said, failing a mission can result in the death or injury of one or both parties.

Characters can still interact with the rest of the cell while working on HRHRs. Also, the general parameters of these missions and who is doing what is IC knowledge (barring the last HRHR; you'll see why), so y'all have a general idea of each other's activities.

And please feel free to use any previously obtained plot coupons or elements in your plans.

THE MISSIONS.

HRHRs take place during the current log. You do not need to complete or even work on every mission objective; you only need to focus on one. The others are there in case we have more than 14 characters interested in the HRHRs, to give you guys a complete picture of what kind of missions you might be assigned. This way no one experiences any unfortunate surprises.

All HRHRs run concurrently, unless noted otherwise. Characters are given full agency over the completion of their missions, whether this means fighting tooth and nail, sneaking around, or doing whatever else. Hell, you could blow something up if that's your jam.

Do what you gotta do.

» THE ASSASSINATION.

Oh hell, they're trying to kill the queen.

High Queen Thsh is not one to be coddled and she makes that clear by killing the first of her would-be assassins on her own terms. She has decimated rebellions much larger than this and believes this one will be no different, stirred by her daughter or not. But COST would rather assassins not even get close to her, particularly with the Regency involved.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Intercept any assassins, preferably well before they can engage the queen.
  • Provide proof of the Regency's assassination attempts, fabricated or not.
  • Dispose of high ranking Regency officials and their allies. If an opportunity presents itself, assassinate Princess Chch.

» THE LABS.

While the labs are largely archaic, certain sections remain functional and in production, namely in the manufacture and distribution of uthcki and hhcho. They also hold the genetic material of more than a few Araneans. House Jankeh presides over the production of uthcki and hhcho (among other experiments), while House Shaiy has taken over House Chchai's management of the Aranean genetic database.

The first objective runs prior to the mines' objectives.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Gain access to the labs and steal samples from the Aranean database, at least one male and one female. Additional samples would not go amiss.
  • Investigate any advanced biotechnology in manufacture by House Jankeh. The decision to sabotage or leave it is up to you.
  • Create a duplicate of database records, particularly anything that seems suspicious.

» THE MEDIA.

As chaos unfolds, the media plays an important role in its control; propaganda goes a long way, no matter the location. WebFeed in particular is abuzz. Queen Thsh's stranglehold on the throne has been aided in no small part by its influence and the Regency attempts to grapple with that now. COST is here to provide countermeasures and prevent the Regency from swaying influence towards House Oujh, in an attempt to instate them as a new Great House.

The broadcasting stations are highly advanced, so there will be a steep learning curve, but a character with some technological experience will fare better than someone with none at all.

There's also the matter of House Shaiy. While they've failed to monopolize the media, they hold sway over a not-insignificant part; Queen Thsh has simply always superseded their influence. But now she's distracted.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Obtain access to a broadcasting station, through whatever means necessary, and doctor the broadcasts so they're in COST's favor.
  • Tarnish House Oujh's reputation and make them look weak, whether by destroying pro-Regency broadcasting stations, dragging them in interviews, or anything else.
  • Threaten House Shaiy into line, whether physically or through other means. Remember, rumors don't have to be true; you just have to convince people to believe them.

» THE MINES.

Unrefined Ymir is still incredibly dangerous for non-Araneans, but the advent of the suits means COST recruits have some means of protection if they venture into the mines. However, the suits aren't foolproof, so there's a chance that recruits who participate in this HRHR may end up doing so...as Araneans. If Young can don a human guise, there's nothing to stop anyone else from downloading Aranean bios, provided they have the right data.

Characters donning Aranean disguises must fall on the artificial or natural segments of the hierarchy, since an Aranean giving off magical traits is a huge red flag, but magical recruits can still sign up. They just have to remain in human form.

The bulk of Aranean labor in the mines is overseen by two houses: House Oujh and House Khnk. House Oujh is irrefutably in favor of the Regency.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Steal as much Ymir as possible, in the event all else goes pear-shaped.
  • Create unrest and a lack of faith in House Oujh, whether by sabotaging the mines or through other means, and try to tip control into House Khnk's hands.
  • There is supposedly a vault buried deep within the mines, where the most potent of Ymir is kept. Locate and rob it.

» THE REGENCY.

While inclined towards order, the Regency is fully prepared to take advantage of the turmoil. It isn't exactly to plan, but when do plans ever unfold without a hitch? They still aim to counter COST's agenda with their own; ultimately, it comes down to who gets where first.

The Regency is likely to interfere—or attempt to interfere—with all of the HRHRs. All recruits, participants of the HRHRs or otherwise, are expected to be ready to engage them, but Grothia wants a dedicated team on duty.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Run interference for all the other groups, through whatever means necessary; sabotage, hit and runs, whatever possible. Just keep the heat off the other recruits.
  • Wipe out the Regency's base of operations. The most obvious is their quarters, but they may have other targets spread throughout Jhashch (cough, House Shaiy, cough).
  • Locate and extract a COST ally from among the Regency's ranks. She bears the staff sigil of Ptah and uses the code name "Serket".

» THE VIRTUAL.

If you thought you were done with video games, think again. Ythaway: Become Arachnid (or, as it's more commonly known, Y:BA) is a hyper-realistic virtual reality simulator, pride and joy of Aranean gaming. Users enter stasis after choosing a username and logging into a server. They're given the option to select a class, which affects their stats...but not their knowledge, so choose appropriately. COST recruits can interface with the game through their visors.

Players are loaded into a maze, which is open-world style.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Make contact with an Aranean under the username "xXRipperXx" and forge an alliance.
  • Make contact with an Aranean under the username "SP1NNER" and forge an alliance.
  • Recover important data. You're gonna have to dungeon crawl for it, bros.

» THE GLITCH.

This HRHR doesn't have objectives and is entirely in your hands, because it isn't an assigned HRHR. You see, it's an accident; the Regency intends to make good on its promise to House Khah, giving them a chance to fight the Twin Princess Generals without interference, but their attempt to remove variables from the equation only added more.

If you're unlucky enough to experience the glitch, you'll find yourself teleported into a forest of wild greens and blues when the Twin Generals disappear from Jhashch. In the distance, rough red spires rise into the sky; it's the sight of them that might clue you in on your location. Because Cre is beautiful in all the ways Jhashch is not, even impaled by spikes that were once Ymir's ribs. They've been mined to the marrow and the average human can barely even feel the tingle of magic, but prolonged exposure is still less than advised.

More importantly, you're caught in a battle between the Generals and House Khah.

ETCETERA.

For those of you who want to request more information as it relates to your HRHR, we have a top level here for your perusal. Just fill out the form and you're good to go. This header also doubles as the place to request additional RNGs, whether because you're a masochist who wants to see your character die because they bungled a coin toss or you want to RNG a thread with someone besides your assigned HRHR partner.

Feel free to use this post to plot with each other. Or wherever else floats your boat!

[personal profile] widow_of_the_crag 2018-06-13 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Jeyne Westerling([personal profile] widow_of_the_crag)
Mission: Lab
Skill: 13 or 14. While Jeyne is more familiar with potions, poisons and medicine, she's still uncertain with technology.
Approach: Jeyne's a natural, so she could easily sneak into the lab. She'll steal a few of the samples that seem relevant, but also write down any data or results that seem relevant or important (it's all guesswork for her). She'll be careful not to sabotage or try to wreck anything on her way out, not wanting to draw attention to herself.

Mission: The Mines
Skill: Maybe a 17 or 18, Jeyne's a natural and is getting pretty good at sneaking around without notice.
Approach: She'll be spending her time collecting as much Ysmir as possible. What she'll probably focus on is finding the vault and robbing it. She'll listen for any discussions about the vault and stake it out a bit before actually going after it. If there is a chance to get into it, she'll take it. If not, she'll gather Ysmir elsewhere in the mines.

So if a recruit is temporarily in a spider body for the mines mission

and they're working with a magical type

will they have to actively fight the urge to eat them, is that a biological impulse??

[personal profile] inconstantly 2018-06-14 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Character: John Constantine ([personal profile] inconstantly)
Mission: The media
Skill: 20
Approach: I mean... this is Johnny Conjob we're talking about. He uses his silver tongue to trick both people and supernatural entities all the time. Crafting an argument to make a target look weak would be easy for him, as would be thinking of and spreading rumors. Get him on a mic and he's golden, especially with his compulsion ability cast on broadcasting objects. But that's where his weaknesses come in. John is awful at anything tech related and would need help from someone whose solution isn't just to kick the damn thing. If he can actually get to the actual broadcasting itself then he's good to go.

Mission: The mines
Skill: 20
Approach: As a magical he can't be completely hidden himself, but John would be an excellent support player to someone non-magical. He could use illusions to enchant objects around the pair to give them cover, provide light in dark places with his pyromancy, and he's used to slipping in and out of places undetected. He would want to follow through with all of those objectives bc tbh they all sound fun. The non-magical would definitely have to be the point person, but John would be good at providing stealth for the both of them and finding alternate routes or plans.

[personal profile] dorzalta 2018-06-14 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Daenerys ([personal profile] dorzalta)

Mission: Media (preference)
Skill: Not sure if this is okay, but Dany would steer clear of any tech that was outside of her scope, relying more on her partner(s) for that.
- Media: 7 as she'd have played with the BCE during her down time in missions, as well as at BASE.
- Propaganda/speech-making: 25, this is politics, and she's good at dragging people through the dirt and swaying them to her side.
Approach:
She would veer away from overtaking the broadcasting role in this and follow her partner's lead. Her goal is to give a few good speeches, talking COST up and the Regency down, mention how choosing the Regency is choosing to be shackled and becoming slaves/weak (which would also mean if you choose Oujh, you choose weakness). She has some influence, and she'll use that and her claim to back the queen. Throw in some talk of fire and blood, probably, and round it all out with boasting about the destruction of the Regency's villa (and connect it with Shaiy, maybe?).

Mission: Mines*
Skill: I'm not 100% sure, halp?
- She's magical, but she'd be bringing Irriella so... <10 for physical confrontations (she's got the fire spell up her sleeve and Irriella for brawling)
- On the flip side, she grew up on the run... and while she's like a bright silver peacock now, she definitely knew how to blend in and fall into the periphery. Some elements of that are sneaking, and some are playing up the "stupid girl," but I don't know how useful that would be here, so I'm going to say <10 as well?
Approach:
She'll be trying to create a lack of faith in Oujh with Irriella and her partner. Likely there will be some destruction, as she'll have an opportunity to roast an Aranean or two with her "flame on" spell while Irriella eats some spider-kebabs. If sneaking is a thing, she could try to go deeper into the mines, but she is magical, and I think they would detect her pretty quickly as a result.

* Just a note that she won't really excel here, but I figured I'd throw her into something since you guys asked. If there are people who really want to join in on this one, please pick them over me!
omniavincit: (pic#12264167)

[personal profile] omniavincit 2018-06-14 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Character: William ([personal profile] omniavincit)

Mission: The MAZE I mean the virtual
Skill: 17—generally he'd be a little lower because he loses interest in gaming pretty quickly, but since this is a mission with a ~purpose~ he'll be a lot more invested. He also trained a lot back on base to punish himself for dying.
Approach: Similar to Ryuji, he'd want to lure the spiderfriends in with some kind of bread crumb trail. He has it in his head that Prince Shch is gaming in secret, and (correctly or not) assumes their contacts are connected to him, so he'd try to adopt a similarly subtle approach in reaching out to them. He'd also set EHOUAW as his username.

Gaming style (please bear with me...)—he's more interested in exploring and learning about (and/or “solving”) the world than fighting, but he's a competent if not particularly inspired combatant. He's good at picking up on small details and synthesizing information in inventive ways. It would most likely not occur to him to break the rules, however.

His class??? Would probably depend on who he's paired with??? I'm gonna level with you, I didn't even know what that sentence meant, but if I'm assigned this mission I will Figure It Out.

PROBABLY OBVIOUS CAVEAT: I know nothing about video games (seriously the last one I played was Cruisin World) (though I did set the mall record) and whichever unfortunate soul gets paired with me would probably have to do some hand holding.

Mission: The Labs
Skill: 16
Approach: He'd see if he couldn't befriend (or bribe, thanks Constantine) some servants with access to the labs—ideally, they'd be able to give him an idea of the layout and some horror stories about what's going on there. (And maybe some times when it'd be best to sneak in?) Would also consider going a more direct route and bringing in some kind of weird Aranean specimen for a “consultation”/as a gift—ultimately, though, if partnered with a more experienced person, he'd follow their lead.

He worked for a biotech company, so he'll probably have some notion of what they're dealing with in terms of research—though I assume Aranean technology is advanced enough that he won't understand it 100%. He's good at spotting patterns and would do a decent job of picking up on anything shady, given time. He'd be reluctant to destroy data unless something truly horrific was going on (seems likely...), in which case he'd want to make it look like an accident/equipment malfunction. He has an EMP bullet, which could potentially be useful short-term, but will also. Make a lot of noise.

He's not particularly sneaky, someone'll have to pick up the slack there.

Mission: The Mines
Skill: 15
Approach: Step one: vore Constantine to establish dominance.

HE WILL BE BETTER AT PRETENDING TO BE A SPIDER THAN EXPECTED, still not the world's greatest thief. By a wide margin.

If applicable, he'd use his sick tattoo as a Ymir detector (not sure if that'd work while in Aranean form—though possibly he could do it pre-robbery) to try and locate the hidden vault.

cookeries: (on the catwalk yeah)

[personal profile] cookeries 2018-06-14 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Ignis Scientia ([personal profile] cookeries)
Mission: The Assassination
Skill: 17 - accounting for his intellectual skill mixed with his inexperience in stealthy operations etc, but he's still an able fighter. Backflips and flashy somersaults does not a stealthy boy make etc
Approach: Ignis will be great at gathering and fabricating information. He can play the court life like a pro. He is useful to fight with but not particularly stealthy. Has some ranged skill, but he has a potential to fail here if it comes to stealthily killing a princess.

Mission: The Regency
Skill: 20 - the man can strategize you out of your own skin okay
Approach: Definitely can help run inference here. Particularly useful at locating weak points/strategies to create confusion and bring down the quarters and draw attention away from the other recruits.

Mission: The Labs
Skill: 17
Approach: Again, not the most sneaky person in the world but he's not stupid. Ignis has the attention to detail that will help with recording/database stuff. He'd definitely document all the technology he could before any possible trashing could happen etc. because what a waste etc, but weapons in the hands of the enemy etc etc.

mylawn: (rrgh)

[personal profile] mylawn 2018-06-14 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Character: 76 ([personal profile] mylawn)
Mission: The Mines (preferred)
Skill: 23. He has a background in covert ops, and three decades of military/combat experience, as well as his own genetic enhancements, which may or may not matter if he is Being A Spider.
Approach: 76 is artificial, meaning he can Be A Spider, and will use that to his full advantage to navigate the mines discreetly. There will be at least some attempt to be stealthy and interference will be dealt with as quietly and efficiently as possible, but he packs a punch when it comes to sabotage and open combat as well, able to do damage just as efficiently.

Mission: The Regency
Skill: 25. He's able to use the full extent of his abilities if he doesn't have to worry about stealth.
Approach: Hit and runs, distractions, and basically using himself as a big angry target to keep the attention away from other, more subtle operations. He knows he's a physical match for the standard Regency agent and will engage them if necessary. He'll also be digging for any indication that they have Grothia alive, and if he encounters any leads, he'll likely attempt to pursue them.

northerndragon: (can't climb to heaven on the cross)

[personal profile] northerndragon 2018-06-14 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Jon Snow ([personal profile] northerndragon)

Mission: Media (probably preferred!)
Skill: [I don't know where you've set it in the past, but I will say that he seems to be the person in this COST cell who has had the most long-term success with this kind of in-person-talking-HRHR in-game. Dany was set at 25 for Court battles and they seem to be pretty equivalent with their speechcraft in canon, but she's a more aggressive person and I doubt you've set him that high in the past. He is not silver-tongued by any means, but he is reasonable, articulate, usually presents a compelling case, and doesn't back down. He doesn't like the Aranean status quo, but he does understand it. That said, he doesn't have the tech savvy to disrupt broadcasts!]
Approach: Jon is pretty honest, but he's also more than willing to put out anti-Regency propaganda, particularly stuff along the lines of what he tried to tell the Prince: whatever the Regency says, they want to make you slaves again: it's in their nature. Oujh, the fools, will aid them in this. They think they're better than the rest of you, and Shaiy is the same. But Jon is impressed with Aranean strength and beauty, and they can all do better than Shaiy. (If he gets really bold, "The Princess is only strong enough to kill the Queen with the Regency's help, or she would have done it already. How's she going to keep you free after that?" Only if it's relatively common knowledge that the Princess wants to kill the Queen, though.) Etc, etc, etc. He would also use connections in COST (people who won court battles) to disseminate these ideas through their followers. If these ideas caught on, he would start to suggest supporting rival houses like Khnk. Finally, he's more than happy to help destroy those pro-Regency broadcasting stations... and an edit to add that he would be up for executing Kebechet in a live broadcast, although who is actually going to kill her is not settled in player plot chat and I cannot guarantee that it would be him. Lots of characters have a claim and the desire.

Mission: The Regency
Skill: 20 for fighting
Approach:
- This seems like something that could be combined with the Kebechet player plot, particularly the Serket extraction. Other than the extraction aspect/things that can be combined with that plot, it's probably not the best for him: for various reasons he should be relatively recognizable to Regency ops, I'd assume? (Length of time in-game, interactions with Colin back in Paris, Kebechet seeming to know exactly who he was in terms of matching a face to his user ID unless she was totally bluffing, Stadium victories, etc.) ETA: He would probably approach Mhic Nathair for help/info about that extraction.
- He also might not object to messing up Shaiy property, given how he compared their early actions after COST's arrival to similar events in his own family's history.

Mission: The Virtual
Skill: ?? I really don't know. He's not an experienced gamer, but I'm not sure that that would be necessary in a VR maze, which would be less about hand-eye coordination and maybe more about innate skill (the "knowledge" part you mentioned)? If his stats are pretty poor for this then I'd rather he not be placed in it. If fighting and diplomacy stats kind of transfer, though, it could work, especially if fighting stats get a boost from it being a video game (i.e. not limited by human physical strength).
Approach: If those stats transfer and it's not about gaming ability with a controller, he could probably do any of the objectives. If not, oh god don't put him in here because he'll be useless. Obviously a fighter class with a cool bladed weapon.

Note: If I seem to be misunderstanding the objectives in a way that makes you think there's one that would be better for him that I've missed, give me a nudge or something: chances are decent that it would be OK with me! The only things I don't really want to have him do are the Glitch, the theft initiatives in the mines and labs, and the Chch assassination.

raisedbybirds: (028)

[personal profile] raisedbybirds 2018-06-14 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Samus ([personal profile] raisedbybirds)

Mission: The Mines (first preferred)
Skill: 26? Giving her an extra point because of the Ymir dousing rod tats.
Approach: Samus is artificial on the spider hierarchy and naturally carries herself with an imposing presence, so I think her being disguised as a Aranean would go over oh god what fairly well once she figures out how to properly move in such a form. Her recent death imbued her with those mysterious shimmering marks that are sensitive to Ymir, making her an ideal candidate to locate that deeply buried vault. She has been genetically modified to be tougher, including specifically the ability to endure alien environments better, so she could stay in the mines longer while in disguise. Not sure if the Ymir marks will eventually make that a painful process to endure or not, but Samus can endure a lot of pain.

Mission: The Labs (close second preferred)
Skill: 25
Approach: Gaining access Samus is one of those sneak-in-by-airvent types. She's super flexible and good for it. If she's given hacking tools she can use them on doors if they're locked, or break them down by force, but she'd much rather a stealth approach. She's spent countless times investigating labs filled with test tube critters, even spent the entirety of one of her missions on space station named Biologic Research Labs. So she'll know exactly what she's looking at when it comes to stealing samples. Samus would probably elect to copy and as much data as possible, suspicious and otherwise, though she's not opposed to copying and nuking data if if has anything to do with the Regency.

Mission: The Regency (third preferred... lbr they all sound fun though I'm game for anything)
Skill: 25
Approach: Fighting is playtime for Samus. She took on a Regency agent before back in Gallipoli so she has some first hand experience with what they're like in a fight. She'd go for the obvious and strike at their quarters but if she's paired up with someone who can confirm intel they have other targets elsewhere, like House Shaiy, Samus would be content to strike either or location. She has no particular affluence with Shaiy however, so she'd elect for a either a sneak-in approach, or 'kick-in-the-door' approach depending on who's she's partnered up with. She's a bounty hunter so locating Serket and extracting them puts her best skills to use.

Mission: The Media (SURE WHY NOT throws a hat in if you need someone extra to even out numbers...?)
Skill: 22 with proper application of her skills, probably 11 if not...
Approach: Infiltrating the broadcasting station via stealth or by knocking out some guards and brute-forcing a way in. If someone else has a more diplomatic way into the studios she's open to that. Samus is a fast learner and has an affinity for technology, especially advanced alien kinds. If destruction of property is the name of the game, Samus is also extremely good at that; she can make it look clean like it was a technological failure or cross some wires and make it look like a bomb went off in there. If it involves getting on stage and acting a part for a prolonged period of time or having extensive conversations, this is where she's weak. She'd work best working with someone who is much more comfortable getting in front of a camera and talking the talk while she works behind the scenes.

Character: Mamoru Hijikata ([profile] amereswordsman)
Mission: Assassination
Skill: 22 cause this guy is off the "normal" charts i guess
Approach: Mamoru's specialty is basically cover ops and spoiling people's plans. He'd generally be a stalker/creeper and silhouette the shit out of any other assassination attempts before they can actually set things in motion. Maybe if possible, he'd torture the shit out of someone (I know Regency dudes would die first before even saying anything, so maybe someone else?) to get the necessary information/confession? Up to you dudes.

Mission: The Regency (preferred)
Skill: Same, bros
Approach: Raiding headquarters and cells is basically what he does in canon. Also he'll protect whichever recruits would be involved even if to win them time. His type is very much the kick-door-down-"IT'S-A-RAID" but he's very willing in working with others in a joint effort.

Mission: The Glitch
Skill: Same-o
Approach: He would be a creeper (again) before acting on anything, but if his intervention means anything, then he will go for it. You bet he'd use the whole environment around him to aid The Generals. Because FU Regency secretly he hates losing.

A note to hmu in case you guys need more info (to save you from the previous tl;dr I've submitted) and to tell you guys that my levels of preference here are very similar (everything sounds amazingly fun) so if you guys need someone to fill a hole somewhere in the groups I'd be happy to.

bringing up the rear

Character: Kel Cheris ([personal profile] bivariant)
Mission: Assassination!
Skill: 23/30, because murderghost assassin + infantry soldier skillz, although she's a pretty vanilla human.
Approach: Cheris enjoys order. The current order is good enough for her, so she'll be dedicatedly intercepting any inbound assassin through a combination of hers and Jedao's skills. They're both exceptionally talented with battlefield tactics -- Cheris, a little more focused on finding advantageous terrain from which to launch and attack, Jedao - who can read a person like an open book. The two of them will focus on being stealthy, observing the rank and file among Queen Thsh in search of anyone who might be aiming to eliminate her or anyone from COST. If the two of them can find a golden opportunity, you bet your ass they'll attempt to assassinate the Princess. She has the EMP bullet to short out mechanic mods, and saved a lot of her anti-toxin just in case. 8)

Mission: The Regency ( Preferred! )
Skill: 25/30, because less focus on combat, more on talky talky.
Approach: She wants to eliminate the Regency, and starting with their base of operations? Yes, please and thank you. Much of her skill even here relies on her tactical prowess and Jedao's people-reading skills (again, they're fucking preternatural in nature????). They'll either sneak in by calling on that tiny favor she's got with Shykgh's house, or, if they have to walk through the front door Cheris will definitely convey Jedao's words to any leftover Regency operatives she might meet on the way in -- it's said once he starts talking, wars are lost. After all, the hexarchate and the Regency are basically the same animal. It's painfully easy for Cheris to express her positive feelings about order and hierarchy, which any member of the Regency with eyes could see her adhering to during the whole of the mission.

She will not suffer a heretic to live, however. 8) And Froot let me keep one of Hei's nice blades on her person, hidden away nicely for an opportune moment.

Character: Eames ([personal profile] withimagination)
Mission: The Regency
Skill: persuasion/charisma about 23? fighting like 18? sneak like 19?
Approach: Sneaking! He'd rather do things quietly in disguise if he can, and persuade if he needs to with the COST ally. He can also call in some favors with Araneans if needed?

Mission: The Mines
Skill: sneak about 19?
Approach: He would try to be quiet and sneak around in this one too, but also sabotage things if it'll help him. He's pretty quick and thinks on his feet.

Mission: The Media (preferred)
Skill: persuasion/charisma about 23?
Approach: He would be trying to drag House Oujh in interviews and lean on House Shaiy through persuasion/charisma or threatening if all else feels.
bloodings: (f51)

Character: Mordred ([personal profile] bloodings)
Mission: Assassination (pref)
Skill: 25; she's not stealthy, but she can fight with the best of them, which is why...
Approach: Try and convince the Queen to let her challenge Chch to a fight in the arena, so there's nowhere to run and hide; and, if she can't get permission... do it anyway. For all her brashness and stupidity, she's a decent manipulator when she wants to be, so she'd definitely attempt to get Thsh on-side.

Otherwise, she'll basically bodyguard Thsh, while complaining about how bored she is whenever there's no one to kill.

Mission: The Regency
Skill: 25, see above
Approach: She's already gonna drop some stalagmites on their quarters during the Kebechet mission, so... either finish the job there, or rampage around Jhashch and make herself an impossible to ignore threat. Her Instinct would help tip her off to any assassins, and her armour provides non-magical protection, though she's far from immune to being taken out by a serious attack, and/or any spiders she pisses off.

EDIT: real talk, though: her contribution will largely boil down to 'blow something up' no matter where she is, so feel free to stick her wherever if numbers are lacking!

Character: Arthur ([personal profile] pointedlook)
Mission: Assassination (preferred!)
Skill: 18. He's had more than basic training and with the combined time of fighting in dreams, he has a leg up in skill.
Approach: To basically be as invisible as possible. If he can somehow get into servant livery, that'd be his ideal approach. From there, it'd be basically remaining as close as he can to the Queen, maybe without being in her direct gaze. He'll be most interested in gathering proof of assassination and wouldn't be afraid to use any thieving or forgery skills to make them seem more viable than they might be.

Mission: Labs
Skill: gonna say 20 for this one, mostly for the intel gathering, duplicating of archives/information. Having made it to the best point man in the dreamshare business, this sort of thing falls directly in his line of expertise. For the regular breaking and entering, I'd say 18.
Approach: He'll bank on going unnoticed and slink his way over to a computer. Otherwise, he'll take an earnest interest in their research and ask approximately a billion questions and happily provide interference for other recruits.

Character: vax'ildan ([personal profile] adequately
Mission: assasination
Skill: vax: 24ish. vax worked with an assassin's guild and he's very good at murder even without all his bells and whistles.
Approach: vax is used to working with vex covering his back. he prefers to get in close to his target and try one-shot them with a series of intense strikes. lots of popping out of the shadows to stab someone in the ribs or stealth-ing his way into someone's blindspot before he strikes.
he'd try to use his previous audience and familiarity to the princess to get in close enough to strike her, or at least position himself to knock off anyone high ranking hanging around her. he's not above relying on charm and his tasty snack-like nature to lure obstacles into more convenient positions to be murdered.

Character: Vex'ahlia ([personal profile] faenthras)
Mission: Assassination (prefered)
Skill: 25
Approach: Vex'ahlia is a highly trained ranger who took more than a few lessons from a rogue friend and her farling brother. Because of this she is sneaky as shit, capable of high levels of stealth. Her approach will be as such, keeping to the shadows all the while keeping an eye and ear out for trouble. She is very perceptive and is capable of reading lips, skills she will be able to use to  spot anyone or anything suspicious. While she wont stay close to the Queen she will try to patrol the outlying areas, places others dont to think to go and keep to the highest points possible to give the best view of the battlefield. Her method of attacking will be fast and hard, doing as much damage as she can as fast as possible.

She will also be willing to use her familiarity with the Princess to get in close and attempt to strike her down or any high ranking supporters of hers.

Mission: the Regency
Skill: 25
Approach: Stealth, hit and runs. She will try and take down as many as she can as fast as she can, using the element of surprise to her advantage. She will also attempt to support whoever else is on this mission along side her with whatever she can be it spells or arrows from a distance.
