GET THE HELL OUT OF DODGE.
Catch & Release HRHR;
Glorious Regency my ass
Gotta get out somehow
The escape and rescue missions for getting characters away from the Regency are going to be plotted out here. This is going to be roll-based, which means it's an HRHR mission. For those of you new to our ranks: that stands for High Risk High Reward. What does this mean?
The outcome of this mission will be decided in large part due to dice rolls. There's a high risk, but a high reward.
In this case: The reward is sweet, sweet freedom and the chance to get back to Gallipoli with information on how to save your comrades. Rolls that do particularly well (ie, have a particularly high margin of success) may even get the chance to nab extra intel on the Regency, some high tech Regency swag, or who knows what else.
But there is a risk: characters who fail their escape attempt will be resigned to solitary confinement, and given half rations for the remainder of their stay, as well as, depending on the margin of failure, facing some physical torture as well (nothing that breaks bones, but the boxes characters are trapped in will squeeze, pinch, and scrape, and occasionally cut). As such, characters are allowed to 'opt out' of attempting to escape, if you would prefer to avoid the risk.
Characters who fail to escape will need to be rescued. The planning post for rescues will be merged with the results for rolls of escape, so we know who you'll be rescuing and who is escaping, how they'll help, etc. Characters who escape will be able to give information on how to get back into space prison and break the rest out! That post will be going up on the 24th, so keep an eye out.
plan structure
- Plans are due on the 24th.
- You can submit a plan any time before then, and we'll respond with the difficulty level, from 1 (so easy you could do it in your sleep) to 30 (not impossible, but only just). You can adjust the plan, tweak it however you want, and see how that effects your difficulty level up until the 24th. If you end up tweaking the plan, please let us know which one you settle on, or we'll just assume the most recent plan is the one you're going with.
- You can choose for yourself what characters your group of escapees contains. There can be a maximum of three characters in each escape group, with no characters overlapping in each group, with a four group maximum. We're relying on you guys to organize that yourselves. (Yes, this means if your character is particularly antisocial, they can try a solo escape run, though that will skew more difficult.)
- Once you have a mission plan that everyone in your team agrees on, submit it, and we'll give you the difficulty level, etc etc.
- Plans are due by the 24th so we can do rolls in time for the escape log the next day! Any characters not included in plans by that time will be assumed opting out of escaping.
- Characters who do not successfully escape can plot with characters who do and characters who will be rescuers on the 24st, where we'll be posting results and etc.
- The escape log for escaping characters / escape failures will go up the 25th, and the rescue portion will be folded into the conclusion log for Gallipoli on March 4th.
- Please feel free to get as creative as you like with plans! If there are multiple things you want to roll for, go for it. If there's something you want your characters to find, go ahead. If you think your character would look for a dimensional portal, or a magical bug zapper, or kung-fu kick guards in hyperspace, let us know. Creativity is good, and we encourage it. There is no 'wrong' way to do it, or a 'secret solution' we're hoping you stumble on. Think of it more like we're the Dungeon Masters in a D&D game. Get creative, add elements you think are ic for your characters and how you want them to escape, we'll grade it based on how your characters are playing to their strengths in a strange environment, how many risks they're taking, and what obstacles they'll potentially face. Plans don't have to be too in-depth, but feel free to get detailed.
- For an example of how this sort of mission was done in the past, here is an example.
The Rescuers
Can characters who haven't been kidnapped participate in the initial escape? Yeah, sorta. There's nothing stopping you guys from factoring in an outside character-- go for it! They don't count against the character limit for plans (but limit them to a maximum of two for my sanity)-- but it will be difficult and make the plan riskier. This is because escaping characters will have no way of contacting or communicating with rescuers, so anything that relies on rescuers will depend on a lot of luck and timing-- aka increasing difficulty levels.
To reiterate because it's a little foggy up there: you can have a maximum of two rescuer characters involved in your plan, for a total maximum of five characters per rescue (3 escapees max and 2 rescuers max). This is for the benefit of my sanity.
There will be an opportunity later to rescue characters with more detailed information, as characters who have already escaped will presumably explain how they did so, making rescues easier.

(Assuming player permission ofc; I don't wanna step on any toes! But ~King Arthur would confront the enemies head-on~ so, you know.)

And likewise, if you want to have her go on a solo run as well, writeup what that plan would be!

TURN IN UR PLANS.
I'M HERE - Noctis and Rey
Following is the plan of escape for Noctis and Rey, who are making a break for it together.
- Noctis feigns interest in joining the Regency cause since he has questioned Kebechet about how they can benefit his world, an angle that he will use to lessen the scrutiny on him and keep himself from being put back into the holding cell with the others. Whenever is most advantageous, when the Regency guard is lowest, he will make a break for it.
- Rey at this time is injured and will play up the severity of that injury in order to receive medical attention. This is when she too will attack whoever it is that is sent to offer her aid, enabling her to make her escape.
- Noctis and Rey will meet up after their separate endeavors, not realizing that the resistance they're meeting is considerably lessened by a number of factors. 1) Midnighter and Bucky are diverting Regency attention and 2) both Dany and Mordred are fighting together as well, making it easier for Rey and Noctis to make their move during the confusion.
- Mordred and Dany briefly meet up with Noctis and Rey; they agree to help them as needed. Both are interested in fighting trailing Regency soldiers, with help also offered by Irriella, who Dany asks Noctis to take with him. He complies, adding a hungry spider to the party of escapees.
- While scouring the area trying to find the way out, Rey and Noctis run into Midnighter and Bucky.
- Recognizing their friends, all four have a much greater chance of not only fighting off Regency soldiers but also returning to Earth, seeing as how M and Bucky have already traveled from one place to the other and know how the procedure works.
ETA: can I also just add, outside of any set timeline, that Noctis would absolutely attempt to lift weapons off of his captors. Just in the event that there's also a roll for thieved valuables.
im never tired of ur edits.
Because it's luck based (but Rey has a high luck stat to begin with, thanks Force), meeting up with Bucky & Midnighter gets a 23/30.
Because they're both well-versed in stealing people's fucking shit, looking for sweet loot gets a 12/30.
(Likewise, if any of these fail their roll, they get one more chance to reroll as a special Mordred Saving Throw.)
Because I was also late (I'm not a wizard, sadface), I'm extending the deadline until the end of today; feel free to reply with questions or changes if you'd like to try and change your difficulty levels.

Meeting up with Bucky & Midnighter: 24/30, so you just barely manage it.
Stealing crap: 22/30.
So! Initial escape attempts look pretty dire, (guards just aren't convinced! Kebechet says they're busy! Whatever you like) but Mordred may or may not help somehow (creating a ruckus? Distracting guards? Generally being a nuisance?) that allows a greater success than it felt initially possible. Regency guards let their, uh, guard down, or just comply to get you to calm the fuck down, whatever.
While waiting for an audience with Kebechet, you're able to do something (grab some weapons off your guards? Just use some flashy magic? Both? Do whatever) and destroy the walls of the prison you're in. This enables you to float from room to room in the dyson sphere, where you almost miss Bucky and Midnighter attacking some guards or whatever. You all meet up and kick more ass.
During your raid on the facilities, you manage to loot some sweet gear. You have a selection of the following; everybody involved gets to pick out one object. There's no way for your character to know in advance what these objects do, so they'll have to grab whatever's most appealing to them. Tell us what you pick, and we'll tell you what it does!
Mystery Dice, energy drink grenades, a small leather kit containing all this crap, slightly vibrating mystery box, warm to the touch under armor, speak and spell, or glove thing.
While jumping from room to room, you see a room unlike any other, dark and without any tubes leading to it. Inside is a technical interface that connects automatically with all your BCEs and asks for coordinates for transfer? Gallipoli appears automatically as one of the coordinates.
It will send you into No Man's Land, but be quick about it, and you'll be able to rejoin Group 4 at Lone Pine.

Dany & Mordred
- Daenerys will, after some time brooding, reach out to the Regency and request an audience to which she'll say she will consider an alliance if her dragons are returned to her during this war (and to make it more convincing, she'll also mention the fact that COST refused this to her so she's hella salty). Her thread with Keb will be veering into talk about her not being a real Targ, so she's going to roll with that and say that she lost sight of the bigger picture, and becoming queen is priority. Help her, and she'll help you.
- Mordred [tbd when cassie isn't dying]
Placeholder for now could be that she possibly tags along with Dany because Dany is a Queen and all Queens need Knights. Duh.
- Irriella hasn't made an appearance yet and has been hiding under Dany's coat since she's a chunky monkey. When her guard(s) aren't paying attention, the spider will strike and enjoy a feast. Dany will try to steal some weapons off corpses. Maybe she'll even steal their clothes to wear! If there's fire anywhere, she would try to use that to her advantage as well in attacking. If there are multiple guards, she'd probably either try to tackle them from behind like she's learned how to do while training, or she would use anything in the vicinity while Irriella handled the first guard.
- If Mordred gets out a different way, then Dany will rendezvous with Mordred and they'll team up to try and cause some chaos, have vengeance, FIRE AND BLOOD zoom.
- During the chaos they'll create, they'll run into Rey and Noctis and will provide aid and/or cover and/or a distraction to help the two escape. Dany will also send Irriella with the duo since her spider baby would be another line of defense in getting allies out of there. [What Mordred does is TBD]
... and then probably solitary confinement for being bad girls.

- Since the Regency knows who she is, Mordred will bank on her Knight of Treachery title to be like 'yeah, fuck King Arthur/COST, I follow this lady now'. Just to throw off some suspicion about her heel face turn. She might not like the Regency, but if her 'Queen' wants to deal with them, then what choice does she have, right? Surpassing her father is all she cares about.
- Even with nerfed powers, she was an exact match for King Arthur in life, so she's pretty strong despite being a shorty. While Dany's spider is having a time of it, she'll punch, kick, claw and bite anyone in her vicinity, while also breaking anything that looks valuable and/or dangerous. And anything that doesn't. She just likes to break things and kill things. If possible, she'll try and find a way to help get the others out, too.
- She has 0 plans to escape unless she knows everyone else is out, so her goal is to cause as much confusion and chaos as possible. When she realizes Dany isn't planning on running either (once the spider handoff happens), she'll be like 'fuck yeah' and double down on causing trouble with her. Congrats, Dany, you earned her respect finally.
Maybe there could be a bonus roll to see if she could break something Actually Important to the Regency? She'll try to steal weapons she can use, throw heavy things around, etc, so she won't just be using her hands.

Due to both Dany and Mordred playing to their strengths, relying on the Regency's general belief that leopards don't change their spots and royalty always wants to side with them (they are super interested in royalty, if you haven't noticed), getting the Regency to believe yall are seriously considering the switcheroo is only a 10/30.
The ensuing fight is kind of a given, but let's say a unilateral win is 19/30 due to spiders and Mordred being swole.
Stealing shit / finding goodies will be a 20/30 likelihood bc neither of you are scavengers or corpse-looting vidyas, but if you succeed your other rolls, you've taken the Regency pretty sufficiently by surprise.
And finally, finding something to seriously fuck up the Regency's base of operations is a 26/30, but I'm going to throw in a thing that if you succeed the majority of your other rolls up until this, it'll drag the difficulty down by a potential modifier of 5, because you'll have more information and etc, so stay tuned.
Because I was late (I'm also dying), I'm extending the deadline until the end of today; feel free to reply with questions or changes if you'd like to try and change your difficulty levels.

For Ashitaka:
I believe I was offered for him to be ejected back to Gallipoli after Mordred and Dany wreck the Regency base. If amenable, that would be the method of his escape. Thanks!
(I haven't responded to the wrong thing in ages, whoops. Apologies for that.)

POTENTIAL PLOTTING COMMENT: MIDNIGHTER & BUCKAROO.
Through the combined powers of Midnighter's skill with technical interfaces (thanks, computerbrain) and Bucky's raw determination (thanks, computerarm), they manage to get some kind of portal to open to the space base where prisoners are being held. They do this by hijacking the Regency Agent's mask. Then they proceed to fight their way through tons of bullshit until they can find some escaping prisoners and help them with a way out.
Who wants to be helped out by two idiots covered in blood who barely understood how they got there?? This can dovetail with a preexisting plan to add some flavor, if interested.

So Rey and Noctis are going to try to get the hell out of dodge together. I'll link this to Ren so she can add her two cents, but my contribution would be A) Noctis feigns possible interest in joining the Regency, since his thread has built that potential, and that gets guards lowered enough for him to make a break for it/help the others get out of their cell/s, or if that's implausible then B) Bucky and M possibly triggering something from the outside to get them out of their cell/s.
That's just step one before we all make a run for it, anyway.
