agogeooc | New Player Plot

Hi friends! I approached the mods about a new player plot that would address the big elephant in the room: Kebechet! They gave their blessings, so I figured it would be best to get everyone on the same page who would be interested in playing a role in this.

Even if you're super swamped right now, I'm sure there's something we could have your character do to help the team. It could be something as simple as intel gathering (need lots of spies, after all).

If you're interested, please leave a comment below so we can get a ballpark idea of how many people want to participate.

Also, be sure to mention whether or not you use discord. I think MOST of us are on it, so I made a discord channel, which might be easier for getting the ball rolling on the plotting side of this. If you don't use it, we can always fill you in on details, get your input, and run it by you for your blessing :)

EDIT (5/28): After talking about it as a group so far, we're going to leave sign-ups open until this Thursday (5/31), and then we're going to begin plotting for the player plot. No worries if you're newly joined and don't have CR with the group, there are vets who know that Kebechet is around and you can definitely use them as an IC reason why your character would help out. Drop a comment and we can finalize the details for that! c:

Otherwise, William has heard the name Kebechet and knows it's important, but as a relatively new character, he still doesn't have the first clue who that is or why everyone's losing their shit over it--it's hard to say how or whether he'd get involved when the information has yet to be presented to him.

I'M DEFINITELY NOT ASKING ANYONE TO BEND THEMSELVES OUT OF SHAPE JUST TO INCLUDE MY CHARACTER, but I'm keen to know if and when this information will be made available to the game at large. I feel like there are other players who are in the same boat as well. (Likewise, I'm hoping the outcome of the plot will be made public knowledge, if possible?)

AS FOR IGNORANCE OF KEBECHET, it's very easy to get that information out there. Who of the vets is William close to so far? I think it could easily come up in conversation, or if the group starts actively recruiting people (which Dany said to those she contacted when she learned Keb was in Jhasch they should do). He knows Jeyne, right? She was there when the kidnapping happened and could definitely be that link to him learning more (I'll let Rachel know if you want it to go that way). Hell, I can even have Dany mention the kidnapping in passing to him or any of the other newbies c: The name's been floating around, and Chiron's player and I were talking about someone stepping up to get the newcomers (PCs) into the loop a bit faster, so we can even implement that if we need to!

(and trust me, it's not bending in any shape just to get you included--WE WANT YOU AND ANYONE ELSE WHO IS INTERESTED TO JUMP ON IN!!)

What makes it a little trickier is that I doubt ICly they would announce to the group at large of Kebechet's presence, just because they've each seen some shady shenans with certain characters. BUT that doesn't mean the newer characters can't sink their teeth into this plot as well. We can figure out a way for sure.

Thank you for all these suggestions! Having spoken to Xan, I think it makes the most sense for Arthur to explain what's up, since he'll be heading up the dreamshare anyway. William's pretty stoked about the tech to begin with, so this way his involvement will be less contingent on how the info on Kebechet is presented to him.

And yeah, I get that characters would logically be wary of making huge network-wide announcements, and I know it's a tough line to walk. I've just noticed a kind of information bottleneck, especially when it comes to the game's broader, more overarching plot elements. Obviously this issue isn't your responsibility! But I hope you can understand how it can be daunting for newer players to have to wangle their way oocly into a plot without any real ic avenues available. I definitely appreciate your willingness to work with us, but it's still frustrating to basically come into a plot when it's already fully formed.

Like I said, I'm not asking you to work miracles (or do anything at all, really), I just figured I'd say something, since there's definitely no way to fix a problem if nobody knows there is one.

No problem! That sounds like the perfect avenue to get him involved, especially since he doesn't know who Keb is c:

The down and dirty, if you haven't heard about her at all, is that 6 COST members--Dany, Mordred, Ashitaka, Kylo Ren, Rey, and Noctis--were kidnapped during the Gallipoli mission and mindfucked by illusions. Dany and Mordred managed a lucky roll that blew up the Regency base, but understandably, we've got some salty people on our hands after being held hostage in some unpleasant conditions. That's what's really driving their thirst for vengeance and this player plot!

We aren't going to hammer out the details until Thursday or Friday of this week. We're leaving sign ups open until Thursday so that if there are any stragglers from the holiday weekend checking in late, they still have time to sign up. The only thing with regard to this plot that is SOLID is that the mods gave the okay for them to go after Kebechet. How they do it, and if they succeed, is still up in the air.

It's totally understandable though, feeling a bit out of the loop. And it can be daunting! I'm happy to help in any way I can, usually it's pretty easy to get Dany to share info in general, so I hope you (and whoever else may be feeling that way) reach out. The players in this game are super nice and really welcoming, so I'm confident that anyone would be happy to make those IC avenues available if there are future player plots, as well.

William is, uh, not very TAKE CHARGE so I don't know that you'll need much input from me while the plot's taking shape (he's also not going to know it's happening until late in the game), but let me know if you have any questions about what he'd do or how he'd react to something.

WHICH REMINDS ME I DO HAVE ONE REQUEST is it possible for him to participate without learning of Mordred's involvement? Because that would cause him to...............immediately lose faith in everyone involved....................................

Dany's already told Mordred that Kebechet is here, and the two of them worked extensively/closely together while they were kidnapped. Mordred is very vocal. Seeing as this is a plot that heavily involves Mordred in terms of her investment, I honestly doubt it... and this is something you should take up with Mordred's player. I'm the one who approached the mods to see if this plot would be doable, but it is by no means JUST mine. I don't call all the shots, it's a team effort. Hope that helps! :)

Hahahahaahah sure thing! I was hoping since the dreamshare element seemed somewhat separate there might be a chance, but if not it's cool.
